In today’s world, we
consume approximately 285 pieces of content daily, 54,000 words and 443 minutes
of video and by the time we are 18, through television, we have seen approximately
200,000 acts of violence. We are exposed
to negative thoughts, absorb negative energy, eat dead food and are addicted to
the electronic income reducer, commonly known as the television. Every day we do the same things over and over
and wonder why we keep getting the same results. Albert Einstein would call this
insanity.
In spite of it all,
something inside of us, some energy, some being is stirring within our hearts,
our soul, urging us to stop living unconsciously and to start listening to our
subconscious mind. It is time to get
back into the driver’s seat of our life.
So you ask….. how do we
make the shift in consciousness and break the habit of being yourself? How do you take the driver’s seat in your
life?
Meditation. Alan Cohen says
“if you to want to find God hang out in the space between your thoughts.” If you have time to breathe, you have time to
meditate. There are numerous techniques;
find one that resonates with you and start now.
Once you practice calming your mind, you will start to receive flashes
of inspiration, ideas as to what to do in your life and when to do it. Other benefits of meditation include
improving blood pressure; reducing stress; lessening of inflammatory disorders
and asthma; reducing depression symptoms; and improving your overall
health.
Define who you want to be.
To get a clear picture of your “best self” describe your ideal day. What do you actually want to be doing? Describe your dream day from beginning to
end. The key is to get specific.
Quantum Physics has
proven that the more you practice a new thought or behavior, the better you
get. Your energy follows according to
where you place your attention; so where your attention is will be
created. So you must withdraw your
attention from things you do not want.
The use of affirmations is helpful with this. Keep your attention on what you want.
Forgiveness. In my book, Is
Anybody Listening, I write “ if you are experiencing any type of blockage in
your life, you have got some forgiving to do.
It is a proven fact un-forgiveness causes unfavorable physiological
activity in your body. It also
guarantees you will recreate this situation and similar ones in your life. When we solve the problem within ourselves,
we will no longer attract these situations.
Remember, it is always us. It is
never them.
Gratitude. When we cultivate
a habit of gratitude, our health improves and our stress levels decrease. Making a habit of keeping a daily gratitude
journal will train your brain to perceive events as positive. And what you see is what you get. Training your braining to focus on the good,
the wonderful and the beautiful will guarantee your world be filled with
possibilities. Rumi reminds us to be
grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.
Now that you are back
in the driver’s seat of your life be sure to take the road less traveled, the
grassy road eager for wear.
Remember,
life is too short to drink cheap champagne.
Dream Big! Live the life you have
imagined.
