Thinking Makes It So

As I watched a recent production of Hamlet, I was reminded of a powerful “truth” when

Hamlet said nothing is either bad or good under the sun, thinking makes it so.  This statement

implies thoughts have power.  Thinking is the process that associates feeling and meaning to

our experiences.  Because thought and feeling equal demonstration, our thoughts are

determining our success and our failures.  Because of this, thinking is a very powerful activity.

In the course of a week, we entertain a myriad of thoughts.  We allow our minds to build castles, commit murders, flirt with destruction, create disease and crucify our neighbors.  When the outer conditions of our life appear turbulent, we quickly prepare for the worse.  If there ever was a time to be “meek”, this is it.  I say this more for me than for you.  In the face of turmoil, be gentle and offer no resistance.  Refuse to name it “good” or “bad”.  But if you must personalize it, call it “growth” while remembering every experience brings a gift, and challenges only signal a need to learn new skills.  All manifestations are our creations; they are snapshots of our mental state.  In other words, every thought connects to an endless chain of possibilities causing everything we think to appear into our life.
The first and foremost need of the Universe is to support us and aid in fulfilling our desires not just our needs.  The vehicle it uses to accomplish this is our mind, our thoughts.  As we work toward our goals we must discipline our thoughts by bridling the negative ones and fertilizing the positive ones.  We each have in our hands the power to create victory and success or chaos and turmoil, for as a man thinketh, so is he.  Use this creative power to manifest the life you dream about.  Frank Outlaw sums it up like this:
Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
